Hoping they see Jesus in us!

Dear Saints,

June is here!  We are now officially done with half of this year and we have much to do and much to be thankful for.  This month many couples will be saying “I do” to each other as they begin that great new chapter in their lives called marriage.  I remember when I stood before this beautiful young woman and looked deep into her brown eyes that still make my heart skip a beat yet today.  I said “I do” to her and I never have regretted making that pledge.  It is the same way I feel when I said “I do” to Jesus.  When I gave him my life and pledge to follow him the rest of my days.  I never regretted that decision either.

This month as well many people will be attending their gardens.  The other day I met Jay, a friend of mine for some coffee.  As he entered into the coffee house you could tell with one glance he had been spending time outdoors.  His face was red, not sun burned, but obviously he didn’t get this new look by watching t.v. inside.  I asked him how he got so much sun; his reply was that he had been working in his garden outside in his back yard.  I could tell by just one look at him he had been spending time in the sun.  It is then I thought that the world should have the same experience with us.  When we spend time with the Son, even our physical appearance should change.  For example: a smile for a frown, tears of joy for tears of sorrow, a song for a complaint and most of all love for hate.  We should be different from the inside out.  Like Moses who had to put a veil over his face because of his time spent with God, shouldn’t we be even a little different after we spend time with the one we love?  The problem some have with us who claim to be Christians is they see no difference in us.  We are too much like the world, when they look at us, they do not see Jesus.  While none of us will ever be perfect as we walk this earth, we are to be different, and we are called to be holy as He is holy.  May we spend more time with Jesus and may he be seen in us, in every aspect of our lives, may he shine through.

Hoping you see Jesus in me,

Pastor Rick
