Moving Forward

Its official April is here!  The flowers are starting to bud and the sound of bats cracking and gloves popping can be heard from the stadium downtown as baseball returns to St. Louis.  The boys are back in town.  May His church come back to life as well this spring as we celebrate His resurrection!  I do believe it is now the time to once again meet together in His house and resume the work to win this city for God and to move forward together.

Speaking of moving forward, I had to buy some new running shoes the other day.  The salesperson who sat across from me began to show me the latest updates on the shoes before me. He says, “Here is where they put in more support,” pointing to a specific area on the shoe.  “Why?” I asked. His reply started bells like a pinball machine ringing in my head. Ding ding ding.  Here is what he said, “It helps the runner keep moving forward.”  Isn’t that what prayer does for us?  Prayer is the support the tool in our weaponry that keeps us moving forward.  Like our brother Jeremiah, I have so many times in this journey wanted to quit. But then I would start to pray and God would come in the room, begin to comfort, and build me up to continue the race.

Prayer is like that cool cold cup of water that is given to someone running a marathon.  The runner will often drink a little then pour the rest over his head and this little amount of water is enough to keep him moving forward in the race.  When we in this journey begin to get weary and want to quit, find a place and begin a little talk with Jesus.  And as the song says, just a little talk with Jesus will make it right!  As I left the store, I could not wait to see how the new support would do its job when I ran.  Nevertheless, in the mean time I thanked God for the support of prayer to keep us moving forward that He has given to all us!
